System information
To get the best results, ensure surfaces to be painted are sound, clean, and dry (new surfaces particularly must be fully dry). Remove all loose and defective coatings, if necessary, stripping back to bare wood. Special precautions should be taken during surface preparation of pre-1960s paint surfaces over wood and metal as they may contain harmful lead.
Prime any new bare metal with appropriate Dulux Trade Metalshield Primer. Then undercoat with Dulux AquaMax Primer Undercoat. Fill any surface defects, open joints etc. and
replace any missing glazing material. New joinery is often factory primed using a satin basecoat (also called a dual-purpose primer). These materials quickly erode when left exposed and may need to be re-primed.
